Parents’ needs are many and varied. Sometimes you need to talk to someone, but sometimes you need to be able to read and find information for yourself. The “Dealing With.. “ project identifies some of the resources Essex Libraries hold on each of the subjects, including books for adults and also books for children. Sometimes the hardest thing is helping a child to understand what is happening. When you come into the library, library staff can help you to find the relevant book or resource. If it is being borrowed by someone else at the time, staff will suggest alternatives on the same subject or request the title via the computer system from another library. Essex has 73 libraries and 12 mobile libraries, all connected by the library computer system (to find your nearest library click www.essex.gov.uk/libraries).
It is incredibly easy to join libraries, you can also access the internet for free, plus a huge collection of books on any subject imaginable, opportunities to join reading groups and undertake online learning courses; join in with baby and toddler times and children’s activities and not forgetting the fantastic Summer Reading Children for all children which runs throughout the summer holidays.
